TEEN PROGRAMS CHICAGO 2020

The following programs will take up the mornings and early afternoons. The rest of the day will be spent on visits to Chicago, local sites as well as picnics and relaxing on the beach nearby. We also plan on meeting with the teenagers from CROYA at the Lake Forest High School for some activities.

*For the following programs the participants will stay in a house in Wilmette area together with the Active English staff.

DURATION: 2 WEEKS

PERIOD: JULY 5 – 18

AGE: 14 – 17 YEARS

Chicago Botanic Garden Program

The participants will be involved in courses for American children in the charming Chicago Botanic Garden. They will work as Leaders in Training during the various activities alongside other teens and adults to assist in the various programs proposed.

Program A
età 14-15 years

Camp leaders for children up to 12 years.
They will involve children in programs such as chemistry, gardening, cooking, photography and much more.

Program B
età dai 16 year olds

Volunteers will have different opportunities to share their talents, explore new areas and work
alongside the staff of the Botanic Garden.
Alternanza Scuola Lavoro – 60 hours for the Volunteer Program

Oasis Program*

The participants are leaders in training and this program combines the fun of participating in the summer campswith the other leaders and the mentoring of young  groups of campers. The students will participate in the planning of the activities, the preparation of the materials and be of support to the staff and at the same time spend time playing and participating in two weekly adventure trips.

Pre University
Social Entrepreneurship for High School and University Students
Age 17 to 19 years

DURATION: 2 WEEKS

PERIOD: 21 JULY – 4 AUGUST

A program developed together with the local coordinator of the Department
of the State for Leadership Programs. Promotes dialogue through an intercultural exchange
strengthening civic engagement for international particpants and their American peers.

The participants will be hosted by host families.
Fulfillment of hours for Alternanza Scuola Lavoro.

MORNING

Participants arrive at worldchicago for the following activities:

  • Introduction to entrepreneurship
  • Lectures given by professors who are experts on the subject
  • Meet with students from the programs already underway to better understand the projects from the point of view of the beneficiary or final user

AFTERNOON

  • Architectural boat tour in Chicago
  • Visits to museums
  • Comunity service
  • Meetings for exchanging ideas

Every afternoon offers something different.

EVENING

Teen_programs

Debriefing or daily reports.
Return home to host families.
